Edinburgh International Film Festival inspiring audiences online

Today sees the launch of the much anticipated 2018 EIFF programme.

Inaugurated in 1947, EIFF is the world’s oldest continually-running film festival.  It has always had a pioneering outlook to its programming and is a champion of emerging British talent.

Legends such as Ingmar Bergman, Werner Herzog, Martin Scorsese, Danny Boyle, Gene Kelly, Tilda Swinton, Jennifer Lawrence, Cate Blanchett, Clint Eastwood and Sir Sean Connery have all featured prominently in the festival over the years.

As online and mobile have become an increasingly integral focus for audience research and engagement it was essential that EIFF provided its audiences with an online experience befitting of such an iconic festival.

Teviot was delighted to win the opportunity to completely transform the EIFF website for the 2017 festival. We drew upon the innovative attitude of EIFF to create a vibrant, user-friendly site that tfocuses heavily on mobile experience and integrates seamlessly with the incumbent ticketing system, events programme and CRM.

The new website saw a big improvement in all key statistical categories since last year’s launch, which crucially also led to a marked rise in online and combined revenue generation.

Our partnership is still going strong this year and we’ve been working hard with the EIFF team to build on last year’s success and to refresh the site with all the latest content. The EIFF website is now bursting with useful features and functionality and all the exciting events for the 2018 festival!

In the lead up to this year’s festival, we’ve already seen a 74% increase in page views, 48% decrease in bounce rate and 58% increase in session duration.   Due to the vastly improved user experience and content, people are spending much longer exploring and this is in turn leading to more ticket sales.  We’re confident 2018 will see an even greater rise in online activity and revenue generation.

Alongside the 2018 programme launch, member ticket sales also launch at midday today, with tickets going on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday 25th May.
