The Challenge

A large scale digital project for one of the world's largest hotel groups. Executing a brand re-fresh and creating a central information hub for Carlson’s ever growing portfolio of brands. Teviot was tasked with merging content from several stand-alone sites into one, meaning it was essential migration was carefully planned and managed thoroughly. The site undertook a full re-design and build to improve user experience and boost SEO performance.

How did we do it?

By working closely and building up a strong client relationship we were able to identify the needs and requirements of Carlson, which helped us to create a project specification. Teviot spent time studying the analytical data in order to identify the key areas that needed to be improved, such as lowering bounce rates and generally increasing site views.

We designed the new site using the most recent and best UX techniques, this included a full review of the old site content, working closely with the client to adjust and streamline the content, creating a much more accessible message. The front end was built using HTML, CSS utilizing other libraries and frameworks (jQuery and Bootstrap).

Our in-house CMS (Iguana) was used on this project and exclusively tailored to fit the projects needs. New modules, plugins and styling were created to give the client a unique and custom experience.

The new site was tested on all popular modern browsers (IE, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Opera) and on popular mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows and Blackberry) to ensure that the site was fully responsive and met best practice and w3c standards.

The Results

A modern high end site that successfully combines the previously disjointed brand messages into one central source of information for the target market.

Since the launch of the rebuilt site in December 2014 there has been a growth of 29% in web traffic. Moving to a responsive site has seen a massive 80% growth in traffic from mobile devices.
